Yosemite Adventure Trips

High Sierra Singer-Songwriters Workshop

5 Days / 4 Nights, Leisurely to moderate hiking in varied elevation.

This unique trip combines the breathtakingbeauty of California's Ansel Adams Wilderness with the opportunity to learn from and play music with 2 of the music industry's most respected musicians and singer-songwriters. Our summer 2008 workshop will feature Tim Bluhm and Steve Poltz. Tim is a long time musician and lead vocals, guitarist and songwriter of the famous rock band The Mother Hips. One recent national press article about the band said: "Divinely inspired by the four great (North) American B's: the Byrds, the Buffalo Springfield, the Band and the Beach Boys," The Mother Hips continue to create music in their tradition of "masterful songwriting, & pop that's been washed lovingly in the native sand, surf, and sunshine."

Tim gets a lot of inspiration for his songs while out in the High Sierra and plans on sharing that with you on this adventure. Music review writer, Chris Orman put the Hips' 2001 album Green Hills of Earth on a list of "greatest albums ever," along side the Beatles Sgt Pepper's, Van Morrison's Astral Weeks, the Beach Boys Pet Sounds and the Rolling Stone's Sticky Fingers. Great company indeed. Steve Poltz was voted "San Diego's Most Influential Artist of the Decade," and has the honor of the longest running song on the Billboard charts Top 100 with "You Were Meant For Me," which he co-wrote with Jewel. Poltz has a fanatical following from his days with the Rugburns as well as his solo career and tours with Jewel all around the world. Forget that front man Tim Bluhm was recently featured in Outside's Magazine's 25 coolest people for his California dreaming life style, this 5-day trip will surely be the highlight of the summer. Space limited to 11 people.
